The moon phases was important to Celts. Each Celtic month began on a full moon. Each Celtic day begins at sunset; hence, a Celtic day begins in the evening, which we call eve. We celibrate the Celtic holiday Beltane as May Day, May 1st, but the Celtic celibration begins the night before.
